The Contact Page Problem That Is Killing Your Lead Quality
Your contact page is the last obstacle between a qualified prospect and a conversation with your business. Most contact pages add friction at exactly the wrong moment -- and lose prospects who were ready to act.
The contact page should be the easiest page on your site to get right. One clear instruction, a low-friction form, a reminder of why reaching out is worth the prospect's time.
Most contact pages are the opposite of this.
The Friction Problem
The most common contact page mistake is asking for too much before anything has been given. Budget range, project timeline, company size, how they found you -- all before the business has demonstrated that it deserves the time this information requires.
Asking someone to declare their budget before they have established whether you are the right fit is a trust violation. It signals that you are filtering them before you have even started the conversation -- and it tells every prospect who is not certain yet that you are not interested in them.
You lose exactly the prospects who needed a bit more to make the decision. The ones who were close but not yet convinced. The ones where the contact form was the last step.
The CTA Problem
The language around your contact point matters at least as much as the form itself. "Book a free 30-minute discovery call" is not a low-friction CTA. It commits the prospect to a specific time, a phone call, a situation where they feel they will be sold to.
For a prospect who is 70% convinced, that friction is enough to make them close the tab and wait until they are more certain -- which often means they contact someone else first.
The highest-converting contact language for a premium service is one that reduces all three sources of risk: time commitment, sales pressure, and premature financial commitment. "Send us your website URL and we will tell you what we find" is a far lower bar than "book a call."
The Fix Is Simple
Three fields. Name, email, and a brief description of what they need. That is all that is required to start a conversation. Everything else comes after you have earned the right to ask for it.
