The Page That Loses You More Clients Than Your Homepage

Every business owner worries about their homepage. Almost none of them have looked at what happens on the page that comes after it -- where most of the decision is actually made.

The homepage gets all the attention. It is the first page most owners redesign, the first one they show in demos, the one they are most likely to have an opinion about.

But for a service business, the homepage is rarely where the client decision is made. The decision is made one page later -- and most businesses have paid almost no attention to it.

The Services Page Problem

The services page is where a qualified prospect arrives after your homepage has done its job. They are interested. They want specifics. They are asking: can this business actually solve my problem?

For most service businesses, the services page answers that question poorly. It lists offerings in internal language, describes features rather than outcomes, and presents no compelling reason to take the next step over any other provider who offers something similar.

The prospect arrived qualified. The services page sent them away confused or unconvinced.

What a High-Converting Services Page Actually Does

It does not list what you offer. It describes the specific problem each service solves and the specific outcome the client can expect. It provides enough specificity that the right client self-selects and the wrong client self-disqualifies -- which is exactly what you want.

It presents the investment level clearly enough that a serious prospect is not surprised later. It ends with a single, low-friction action: send us a message, not "book a 45-minute strategy call" with a third-party calendar that adds three steps to a decision the prospect was already close to making.

The Audit Starts Here

When we review a website, the services page is always one of the first three pages we look at. It is consistently the highest-leverage improvement available. Better copy, clearer structure, and a friction-reduced call to action on this single page has moved enquiry rates significantly -- without touching anything else on the site.

If you have not looked at your services page recently through a prospect's eyes, that is the right place to start.

We will review yours and tell you specifically what we would change.
